About Retix

Retix is a free multiplayer shooter that runs in a browser tab. It is made and operated by retix, an independent developer based in South Korea.

What Retix is

A 3/4-perspective 2D multiplayer shooter, played in a browser with no download, no launcher and no install step. Four modes run on six maps: Team Deathmatch, Free For All, Domination and a fifty-player Battle Royale. Eight classes and twelve weapons are available, and the classes are unlocked from the first match.

Everything that decides a match happens on the server. The browser predicts your movement so the controls feel immediate, but damage, hits, reload timing and weapon stats are all resolved server-side, which is what makes a modified client worthless.

The game is playable in nine languages: English, Korean, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, German, French and Russian.

What is in the game

Retix depicts combat between small stylised characters drawn in flat colour. There is no blood, no gore, no dismemberment and no depiction of real-world weapons, people, places or events. Characters that lose all their health fall over and respawn.

The game is not directed at children and is not designed or marketed for them. There is no voice chat and no text chat. Players can choose a display name, a clan name and a custom character skin, and every one of those can be reported in-game if it is offensive.

There is nothing to buy

Retix has no purchase flow. No currency packs, no battle pass, no paid cosmetics, no subscription. The only currency is gold, and the only way to get gold is playing matches.

Gold and XP exist inside the game and nowhere else. They cannot be bought, sold, traded, withdrawn or converted into money or anything of real-world value.

Who operates it

Retix is operated by retix, based in South Korea. An independent project, not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any other game, publisher or platform.

Questions, bug reports, abuse reports and privacy requests all go to [email protected].

How it is built

The client is a browser application. The match server is authoritative and runs the simulation for every player in a room. A separate service owns accounts, gold, unlocks and upgrades, and the two are kept apart on purpose: the match server can report what happened but has no way to name a reward.

Detection thresholds for cheating are published rather than hidden, on the anti-cheat page. Reward weights are published too. Both pages exist because a rule nobody can read is a rule players cannot check.
